The elegantly and boldly designed case houses a movement that introduces revolutionary innovations: the Caliber 7135. Thinner than most of the Brand's movements, it was designed to beat at a frequency of 5 hertz, offering exceptional performance.
Rolex Land-Dweller
New horizons await
A symbol of numerous watchmaking successes, crafted by those who help shape the future of watchmaking, the Land-Dweller is the watch for those who are building tomorrow's world today.
This watch features a bracelet that integrates harmoniously with the case, creating perfect aesthetic continuity.
Caliber 7135
A high-frequency movement
Entirely developed and manufactured in-house, the Calibre 7135 beats at the exceptional frequency of 5 hertz, or 36,000 beats per hour – a first for Rolex. This allows it to measure time with aetonishing precision of a tenth of a second. It also features a particularly meticulous aesthetic. Through the watch’s transparent case back, the splendour of the openwork oscillating weight in yellow gold can be admired, as well as the refined Rolex Côtes de Genève decoration on the bridges.
Caliber 7135
Dynapulse escapement
The most significant innovation of the 7135 calibre is the Dynapulse escapement, a revolutionary alternative to the traditional Swiss lever escapement. This sequential distribution escapement, with its innovative architecture and primarily made of silicon components, is extremely light, virtually impervious to magnetic fields, and significantly more efficient than a traditional escapement.
Calibre 7135
A cutting-edge regulating organ
The regulator assembly of calibre 7135 features a balance staff for which the material and manufacturing posed a significant challenge, an optimised brass balance wheel, and a silicon Syloxi hairspring. The patented staff is, in fact, made from a new high-tech ceramic exclusive to Rolex and laser-cut – a first for the brand. The optimised Paraflex shock absorber offers the movement increased shock resistance in every position. Finally, thanks to the different materials used to produce the components of the regulator assembly, the latter is able to withstand high magnetic fields.
Flat Jubilee Bracelet
Integrated with the case
The Land-Dweller reinterprets the design of watches with integrated bracelets, characterized by an apparent fusion between the case and the bracelet. Inspired by the emblematic Jubilee bracelet introduced with the Datejust in 1945, the Flat Jubilee bracelet was specially designed for the Land-Dweller. The links feature a distinctive flat surface, a unique characteristic among the Brand's metal bracelets. It is also offered with a new series of finishes, which includes polished central links and side links with a technical satin finish on the top and polished sides. Viewed from the sides, the lateral bevels on the upper edges of the case and on the side links of the bracelet form a circle of light, further accentuating the harmonious design of the timepiece.
Dial
Honeycomb pattern
Surrounded by an inclined rehaut, this graphic dial is adorned with a geometric decoration: a honeycomb motif developed using laser technology. The satin finish of the intense white dial and the sunray finish of the ice blue dial are the result of traditional techniques. In versions featuring the Chromalight display, the open numerals and hour markers, with luminescent material extending along the entire length of the component, are exclusive to the range. They provide the Land-Dweller with optimal legibility in all circumstances. The hands, also luminescent, have been specially designed for this model. The seconds hand, in particular, stands out with its counterweight design, which adopts the dial's honeycomb motif.
Superlative Chronometer Certification
Like all Rolex watches, the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller 40 and the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller 36 carry the Superlative Chronometer certification redefined by Rolex in 2015. This designation attests that every watch leaving the brand’s workshops has successfully undergone a series of tests conducted by Rolex in its own laboratories according to its own criteria. These tests are additional to the official certification of the movement by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC). The precision of a Rolex Superlative Chronometer is of the order of –2/+2 seconds per day; the brand’s tolerance for the rate deviation of a finished watch is significantly smaller than that accepted by COSC for the official certification of the movement alone.
The Superlative Chronometer status is symbolised by the green seal that comes with every Rolex watch and is coupled with an international five-year guarantee.
