The dial of the Oyster Perpetual 36 offers a refined and extremely modern reinterpretation of this motif, introduced in the late 1970s and now iconic. It showcases the letters of the name “Rolex” in a play of contrasts that combines a total of ten shades. Creating it was a challenge, as the colors are not applied simultaneously but one after another. All the shapes and letters that make up the motif must be perfectly positioned, a task that requires extreme precision.
Oyster Perpetual 36 by Rolex
Prestigious credentials
Rolex introduces a new version of the Oyster Perpetual 36 in Oystersteel, featuring a dial adorned with a highly graphic and colourful Jubilee motif, displaying the letters of the name “Rolex.”
To create this motif, which encapsulates the Brand's entire aesthetic heritage, Rolex achieved a true technical feat. Through the unique luminosity of its dial, the new Oyster Perpetual 36 celebrates the Brand’s inventive spirit and its traditional mastery in dial production.

Oystersteel
An exclusive alloy
The new Oyster Perpetual 36 is crafted from Oystersteel. This special alloy, with its unique sheen, is produced exclusively for Rolex. It belongs to the 904L family of steels. These alloys are generally used in high-technology contexts, for example in the aerospace and chemical industries. Their excellent anti-corrosion properties are comparable to those of precious metals.
Oyster case
A symbol of waterproofness
The Oyster case of the Oyster Perpetual 36 is guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet). The middle case is crafted from a solid block of Oystersteel and is topped by a domed bezel. The case back, with its fine fluting, is hermetically screwed down with a special tool exclusive to Rolex watchmakers. The Twinlock winding crown, fitted with a double waterproofness system, is securely screwed down against the case. The crystal is made of virtually scratchproof sapphire and benefits from an anti-reflective coating.
Oyster bracelet
Iconic and robust
Developed in the late 1930s, the Oyster bracelet is fitted on all models in the Oyster Perpetual range. This metal bracelet, with its three broad, flat links, is known for its robustness, comfort and elegance. The Oyster bracelet on the Oyster Perpetual 36 is equipped with an Oysterclasp and features the Easylink comfort extension link, which allows the wearer to easily increase the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm for additional comfort in any situation.
Caliber 3230
The quintessence of technology
The Oyster Perpetual 36 is equipped with calibre 3230, a movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. This self-winding mechanical movement, which incorporates the blue Parachrom hairspring and Chronergy escapement, ensures high performance, particularly in terms of precision, power reserve, convenience and reliability. It offers a power reserve of approximately 70 hours thanks to the barrel architecture and the superior efficiency of its escapement.
Certification
Superlative Chronometer
Like all Rolex watches, the Oyster Perpetual 36 carries the Superlative Chronometer certification. This exclusive title attests to the timepiece's outstanding performance on the wrist. This in-house certification is strictly controlled by independent and internationally recognized Swiss bodies.
As of 2026, the Superlative Chronometer certification will be supplemented by three new evaluation criteria: resistance to magnetic fields, reliability, and durability over time, monitored throughout all stages of design and production of each individual watch. This involves hundreds of checks and validations that directly contribute to the timepiece's performance. The new criteria are in addition to those established during the redefinition of the certification in 2015, namely precision, waterproofness, self-winding, and power reserve. It was in that year that Rolex developed an exclusive protocol of tests for the finished watch, conducted within the manufacture on fully automated systems. Evaluated after the movement has been cased, the criteria concerning precision are particularly stringent. The latter must be within a deviation of between –2 and +2 seconds per day. The rate deviation tolerated by the Brand for a finished watch is far lower than that allowed for the official certification of the movement alone.
The Superlative Chronometer status is symbolized by the green seal that accompanies every Rolex watch, along with a five-year international guarantee.
